Cinderalla in Reverse!

Don't know if it will be a fire storm! Don't know if women's organizations will go onto the streets vowing to take action! Don't know if effigies will be burnt - though there is a wax statue which can be melted! Don't know if women will feel sorry for this lady! Don't know if this man unknowingly uttered the secret male mentality, prevalent in most Asian men!

Big B or otherwise known as Amitabh Bachchan, is one of India's leading actors. For a man who is treated as a demi god by some in India, irresponsible statements as the one above can be damaging and the end of a good reputation earned over years. Domesticated - hmmm reminds me of a Cow!

Good thing he didn't add - she is tame - does not bite - and does not need to be chained. I also hope he didn't let it slip she knows how to fetch the paper too.

Aishwarya Rai, 1994 Miss World winner, better start running. From this statement they don't need a new dishwasher cause they are getting their son to marry one. She might actually turn out to be like Neeru the role she acted as in Rain Coat, where she lived in torn sarees, washing dishes and cleaning furniture. Oh yeah domestic animals are also bred, probably we can expect 3rd generation Bachans soon.

Will other women respond on this slight or let it pass, after all it is Big B?

Either Reuters fumbled in the reporting or Big B did! Will women swallow the slight and let it pass and complain endlessly this is their fate! I don't even want to know what Abhishek thinks about his future wife being called "domesticated" by his dad.

On Saturday, Amitabh Bachchan was awarded France's highest civilian distinction, the Legion d'honneur (Legion of Honour) in recognition of his contribution to Indian and international cultural life. The Indian culture indeed! My buddy Marwan said, "I think being the Big B, he will get away with murder. Excuses must be made for our betters."

“In their (women) quest for rights they have naturally placed emphasis on their wrongs rather than their achievements and possessions, and have retold history as a story of their long martyrdom” ~Mary Ritter Beard (US Historian and Campaigner for Women's Rights)

Take a good look at the pictures! Probably, that's how the former Miss World could soon be looking like, from the back of a few bars installed on every window in the Bachan household - mind you reportedly installed to keep crazee fans out and the pets in (including domestic pets).

I am in awe of Amitabh Bachchan. He deserves this award.

I have another interpretation of this award as well as of selection of Amitabh for this award by the French government. I look at it as a economic and cultural coup by the French. Now for the next few days powerful indian media will be focussing on this award. Amitabh's fans will become more aware of the French. Amitabh will be asked about this award during the interviews.

Eventually, this will help BNP Paribas, Alcatel, Sanofi/Avantis, Dassault (Mirage) and French business.

We in India must follow this example and create awards of our own and gain exposure in the foreign media.

Information Junkie, I think you missed the whole point of the blog entry! I am not talking about the award!

Marwan your words hold true - forget the fact Amitabh Bachchan calls his women "domestic" - here we have fans who are in such awe of him that they will let him get away with murder!

By the way - thanks for the useless economic insight! If only World Trade functioned on awards given off by countries. Maybe you should write to the French to give some awards to Chiranjeevi, Rajnikant,Mohanlal, Mamooty, and so many other non-Bollywood actors in order to increase French Business in India.

Maybe even some cricketers - cause I am sure the French are not aware they have fan bases bigger than Amitabh's.

Well you can start off on your suggestion about the Indian awards and make sure you award the first one to me! Thanks information junkie! I will give you an award too! Fair???

well well well...freemind, you sure are broadening your horizons aren't you? I don't remember you focusing too much on "Bollywood" and its sultry affairs before...
Now that I'm done pulling your leg,I'm sure you know that even Gods have been dethroned for smaller issues than this one. Amitabh Bachchan might be able to get away with murder but if the heavily emotional Indian janta decide to go into a frenzy over this one, even the great man himself won't be immune to it. But hey...maybe if Aishwarya is domesticated and trained enough by then, she could frighten off all attacks...and roll over and play dead too!
